CrowdStrike BSOD Issue Strikes Again

Widespread sensor 658 problem emerges in July 2023

Uninstalling CrowdStrike or Intel GPU drivers recommended

Attention security professionals and IT administrators: There appears to be another widespread CrowdStrike BSOD issue affecting numerous organizations. This time, it's related to sensor version 658 and has been observed in July 2023.

According to reports, the issue manifests as a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) loop on SQL Nodes. Initial troubleshooting steps involve uninstalling or uninstalling and reinstalling CrowdStrike. Additionally, uninstalling and reinstalling the igdkmd64sys Intel GPU drivers has been suggested as a potential solution.

CrowdStrike has acknowledged the issue and is actively investigating its root cause. In the meantime, the company has rolled back a detection logic update that may have triggered the problem. Affected organizations are advised to check if their LMHosts service is enabled, as disabling the TCPIP NetBIOS Helper can lead to LMHosts being disabled.
